Michelle Muench, BS, RDMS, RVT
President-Elect
Michelle Muench is a native of California and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She graduated from Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology & Physical Education. As an undergrad, she studied abroad in Italy for 2 years. She fell in love with learning new languages, different cultures, and travel, which in turn after she graduated led to her 20+ year career in the international adventure travel industry. She combined her love of the outdoors, sports, foreign languages, helping people, and travel by leading small groups biking and hiking across Europe, Latin America and the U.S. She lived and worked abroad for 15 of those years in various countries including Peru, Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador and Italy, speaks Spanish and Italian, and even went to Antarctica as part of her role as the Regional Manager of Trip Operations. In this rewarding career, she researched, developed, and managed over 50+ trip products and collaborated with various low-income and remote communities throughout Latin America on projects to help build sustainable local infrastructure. Having lived and worked in various cultures, she has a particular affinity for collaborating on cross-cultural teams and holds a great deal of respect for people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
Since Covid turned the travel industry on its head in 2020, as one door closed, another opened as she seized the opportunity to pivot into a new dynamic career in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. She returned to her love of the sciences and is now in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography profession. Her goal is to become a leader in the Sonography industry and share her passion of connecting and helping serve other people in her career. As a professional in the hospitality and service industry, delivering exceptional customer service was the utmost priority, and she looks forward to using her key transferable skills along with her leadership and cross-cultural management skills to succeed as part of the healthcare industry, where delivering respectful and compassionate patient care is her ultimate goal.
In her free time, you can find Michelle enjoying a great hike, biking, kayaking, doing yoga, cooking Latin specialties, and spending quality time with her family while traveling and exploring new cultures. She looks forward to collaborating with the CSRT and ASRT, helping grow membership, and be an advocate in her profession.
